Allison spent the past seven years working in the energy sector. She pursued her passion to reduce carbon emissions by working to increase the amount of electricity produced by renewable resources. She began first as a consultant, next as a project developer, and was most recently employed as consultant for the New England States Committee on Electricity (NESCOE), an organization focused on achieving clean energy policies within competitive electricity markets. Each week, Allison worked to find solutions to some of the most challenging energy supply problems of the day.
“Time on this earth is short. It should be spent doing something you care about”. She approached her worklife with a passion to explore and reflect beyond her comfort zone. Allison was a woman inspired to improve the world for others, and all who met her, remember her fondly, and will miss her greatly
Her spirit is carried on by her wife, Lucy Pollard of Portsmouth, NH, her loving parents, Renee and Laurence Smith of Harrisonville, MO, and sister, Lauren Pedersen (Matt) of Ankeny, IA, two nephews, and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.
Allison W. Smith was raised in Missouri. She moved to New England to attend Dartmouth College in 2002 and was an active participant in the Dartmouth Outing Club (DOC), where she developed an avid interest in outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, camping, trekking, and biking. She was en route for a weekend Ski trip, at the time of her tragic car accident.
